Ben Simmons ‘legitimately is a basketball savant’ – agent

Bernie Lee, the agent of NBA star Ben Simmons, recently shared glowing insights about his client’s basketball acumen and provided encouraging updates on his recovery journey.

In an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Lee expressed admiration for Simmons’ basketball intelligence, hailing him as a “basketball savant.” He revealed that he regularly sends Simmons clips of various offensive sets, and his client responds with detailed analyses within seconds, showcasing his deep understanding and love for the game.

“The thing that has really impressed me about Ben in every conversation that I have with him is that he legitimately is a basketball savant,” Lee said. “If I want to engage Ben, I will send him clips of sets, like, FC Barcelona running inverted version of horns or staggered Iverson cut. Things like that, right? And I’ll send him these things and literally like within ten seconds border none I would get a response from him talking about what he perceives from these plays.

“This guy loves the game, loves competing, understands it at really high level. I think it’s something that he’s going to get back to doing at a really high level here for all of us to see and I look forward to seeing it myself.”

Despite facing setbacks and injuries during the 2022-23 NBA season, Lee reassured fans that Simmons has made significant progress in his recovery. The point guard had his knee drained and received a PRP injection to address lingering knee soreness. Additionally, he dealt with a nerve impingement in his back, which resulted in a truncated season and ruled him out of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

However, Lee’s optimism shines through as he reveals that Simmons has exceeded expectations in his recovery process. The agent confidently stated that Simmons is on track to start the upcoming season without any limitations, both in training camp and the regular season.

“He’s been great,” he said. “There’s been a protocol that was established for him. This summers has benchmarks and measurements just to make sure that he’s staying on track. I will tell you that he’s exceeded everything. The expectation is that he’ll be able to start the season day one of training camp and definitely the regular season without any limitations in any way.”
