Bale predicts comfortable Real Madrid win

Gareth Bale expects Jude Bellingham to cap his debut season at Real Madrid with a comfortable win in the Champions League Final.

The Welshman helped Madrid win five of their record 14 continental titles during a nine year career at the Santiago Bernabeu after signing from Tottenham.

He expects their 15th title to come at Wembley on Saturday night when La Liga winners face outsiders Borussia Dortmund.

How and where to watch 2024 Champions League Final

Victory would be Madrid’s sixth in 11 seasons and it’s that experience which Bale believes will prove the difference against a side playing just their third final, and first since 2013.

“I obviously think Real Madrid will win, and possibly comfortably,” Bale told Sky Sports. “Just having that experience of being there so many times, having the experience in the squad of older and younger players – they are a very complete team and it’s difficult to break them down.

“Football has funny things happen so you can obviously never say never, but I believe Real Madrid will come out on top.”

Bale and Steve McManaman are the only Brits to have lifted the trophy more than once with overseas clubs, both with Madrid, and Bale expects 20-year-old England star Bellingham to join their exclusive club.

He said: “Jude has had a fantastic season. It’s a great setup in the club where they do make you feel very settled very quickly.

“He’s had a great season I’m sure he’ll want to cap it off with a win on Saturday.”

Bale spent eight years as a teammate of Germany midfielder Toni Kroos, playing just under 200 games in the same Los Blancos side.

Kroos will play his final club game before retirement and is hoping to match Bale by adding a fifth Champions League medal to his impressive haul.

Bale said: “Toni is first and foremost an amazing person. A great player, obviously, what he’s achieved in his career speaks for itself.

“On a personal note I would love to see him go out on a high winning the Champions League – he deserves to have that final game where he does that. Hopefully he able to do that.”
