Arsenal sporting director Edu gives assessment of Premier League title race
Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar admits he is frustrated that his side did not win the Premier League this season.
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City pipped the Gunners to the crown and claimed a record-breaking fourth consecutive league title under the Spaniard.
The race went down to the final day but Edu and Arsenal were relying on West Ham to find a result against the champions at the Etihad.
Mikel Arteta’s side put together a stellar run in 2024, losing only once in the final five months of the season.
But it was not enough to conquer England’s top flight and City took the honours in the end, finishing two points ahead of their rivals.
It is the second time in as many seasons that the North London club have finished behind City and there is a sense of frustration across the fanbase due to the 115 charges stacked against the Premier League powerhouse.

This was echoed in Edu’s recent interview with Estadao.
He said: “It’s a strange feeling, very strange! Because we end the season with the feeling that we’ve done everything right.
“From the signings and the goals to the renewals. Mikel did a great job and achieved the goals.
“We did everything we could, but it wasn’t enough.
“There’s frustration, but there’s also a positive feeling that the process was done well. The work was excellent.
“But all the credit in the world to Pep for the training and work he’s been doing since he started his career.

“I even joke with my son that I want to see if he’s really good at rugby. It’s a joke I make because he’s already won everything in football.”
City’s success is under scrutiny due to the charges lurking over their heads.
If they are found guilty, they could face a huge points deduction or even find themselves relegated to a lower division.
Guardiola is reportedly considering quitting the job at the end of the 2024-25 campaign and Arteta will be hoping to guide his team to the top in his absence.
