Arsenal preparing for Man City clash since pre-season
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits he has been preparing for this weekend’s Premier League showdown against Manchester City since pre-season.
The Gunners face a daunting schedule, with the clash at the Etihad marking their third away game in just seven days, but Arteta insists his side is ready for the challenge.
Speaking in his press conference, the Spaniard said: “We’ve been preparing for this since pre-season.
“Obviously, we knew the schedule and we knew that it’s extremely rare to play in these conditions with three massive away games in six days, but it was what it was, so we have prepared for that, both physically, mentally and tactically.”
Arsenal will have to utilise his squad rotation, particularly in light of the injury to Martin Odegaard during the recent international break.
“We’re making sure that everyone is ready for it because we’re going to need them, especially with the injuries that we had from the international break,” he said.
💬 “It’s great to give back because you know individually how much people invest – the time, money, effort and travel.”

“Not really [any fresh injuries]. Straight after the Atalanta match, we need to recover, sleep, eat well and everyone is looking forward to the match.
“We know what it means, we know what we’re fighting for and it’s a great opportunity for the team to show what we’re capable of.”
Odegaard update
Arteta did provide an update on Odegaard, whose availability for future matches remains uncertain.
The midfielder has been sidelined with an ankle injury, and while the exact timeframe for his return is unclear, Arteta stressed the importance of monitoring his progress over the coming days.
He added: “We need to see the development in the next week or so, how the ankle reacts first of all and then the staff will give me an update on the timeframe and how long he’ll be out for.”
As Arsenal gear up for what could be a pivotal fixture in their season, Arteta’s focus will need to be on Arsenal’s depth and resilience when they face the reigning champions in what might require another top defensive display.
