Are Patrick Roy’s unique ways right for Islanders’ future?

Maybe, upon seeing the Islanders’ net empty for a defensive zone faceoff with 43 seconds to go in Tuesday’s loss to the Maple Leafs, you thought Patrick Roy had lost his mind.
Maybe you didn’t hate it so much — the Islanders are one of the best faceoff teams in the league, they needed a goal and if they’d won the draw with Ilya Sorokin in net, it would’ve been four-on-five thanks to Noah Dobson’s late penalty.
Maybe, like Leafs coach Craig Berube, the overriding thought was how bizarre a move it was more than anything else.
“I think it’s the first time I’ve ever seen that,” Berube, who’s either played or coached professional hockey in all but one year since 1986-87, said after John Tavares’ empty-netter sealed a 3-1 Leafs win over the Islanders.
