Antony admits he is loving life away from Manchester United after delivering another man of the match display for Real Betis last night.

The much-maligned Brazilian scored one and created another as Betis swept aside Real Sociedad 3-0 in Seville to move up to eighth in La Liga.

After a cagey first half, Antony’s left-foot volley gave the home side the lead and he also set up Marc Roca for one of the midfielder’s two goals as Betis eventually ran out comfortable winners.

He said: “I’m really happy with the game we had today. We knew that it was really important to win and we keep going to pick up confidence.”

Antony endured a miserable time at United following his £80million move from Ajax in August 2022. The 24-year-old failed to make an impact and was unfairly cast as the poster boy for the club’s struggles under Erik ten Hag.

A move to Betis has revitalised the winger and he is enjoying his time in Spain.

He added: “I think the most important thing is to be happy. Here, I’m really happy as I said before. I’m really happy to score and help the team and we keep going like this.”

Antony has now scored three goals in four games for Betis but is not setting himself a target other than continuing to enjoy his football once again.

He said: “I’m not setting a number for goals. I work hard every day. I’m really focused, really happy here and enjoying every day.”
