Anna Delvey Gives Awkward Goodbye After ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Elimination

Anna Delvey is done with the dance floor. After just two weeks on Dancing with the Stars, the con artist was eliminated last night from the competition. When asked what she’s taking away from the experience, Delvey gave a tense reply, “Nothing.”

The star’s time on the show was met with much controversy. Many believed she should have remained under house arrest in New York City, and that the casting choice was romanticizing crime.

“I really don’t understand HOW & WHY she’s being glorified & awarded the opportunity to be on this,” one Instagram user wrote in the comments on Delvey’s post last week, which asked fans to vote for her on the show.

“It’s completely insulting to the veteran actors and Olympic athletes to be sharing a stage with a convicted felon who hasn’t even finished her sentence!” another wrote in the comments.

During her time on the show, Delvey never showed much enthusiasm. Several TikToks posted on her page show her expressing disinterest in the rehearsal process, including one video of her lip-syncing the words, “I do not have time for this” to her partner. Delvey even captioned an Instagram post from dress rehearsal for the premiere, “Too much dancing.”

Perhaps most jarring was her response to being eliminated. When Delvey declared she had learned “nothing” from the experience, host Julianne Hough appeared caught off guard, laughing it off with a mere, “There you have it, absolutely nothing.” Co-host Alfonso Ribiero added, “You had fun, stop it,” but received no reaction from Delvey. Meanwhile, her partner, first-time pro Ezra Sosa, was never acknowledged in her final goodbye.

Sosa advocated for Delvey across social media during her time on the show. In response to the online criticism, Sosa made a TikTok video last week in which he shared, “I was receiving so much positivity from my partner, and she wasn’t receiving the same.”

Sosa wiped away tears while telling his followers how he found her in the bathroom crying after the press line.

Delvey rose to fame for pretending to be a German heiress, scamming people into giving her over $200,000 in cash and services. In 2017, she was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the first, second and third degree. In 2019, she was also convicted of theft of services. She served nearly four years in prison before being released in February 2021.

Delvey’s time on Dancing with the Stars was poised to be a comeback, complete with a bedazzled ankle monitor and all. Even judge Carrie Ann-Inaba advocated for her in the opening episode, telling viewers, “When you came out on the dance floor, there was a shift in the energy in this room. I can imagine that this is scary for you. I’m not pro or against what you’ve done, but this is about your dancing here, so let’s all give her this space, please.”

Delvey exited the show after performing just two dances.
