Andrew Wiggins no timetable of return yet, but working out everyday – HC Kerr
A timetable of return remains unclear for Andrew Wiggins with regular season ticking for the Golden State Warriors, but he is making necessary conditioning and workouts every day according to head coach Steve Kerr (h/t ESPN’s Kendra Andrews).
Should he come back this season for the Warriors, the team’s training staff will look and assess his fitness to determine his readiness to play.
“He’s been working out every day,” Kerr said. “Now beyond that, once he’s back, our training staff will be able to get with him and see where he is. He’s been training on his own.”
Wiggins has been out since Feb. 13 for the Warriors. The exact reason for his unavailability remains a mystery, but the franchise cited from the previous days that he is dealing with a family matter.
He has missed 20-straight games for the Dubs up to this Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
With six games left on their regular season calendar, Kerr still expressed his optimism on behalf of Golden State that Wiggins will be able to return soon.
Averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 points, and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.3 percent from the field, the star forward has been an important element in the Warriors’ primary goal of defending their title this year with his length, defensive versatility and scoring production.
“There’s hope but it’s I guess indefinite, it’s also appropriate because we don’t know,” Kerr said.
