Allegiant Stadium fire could be ominous for the Raiders’ season

A parking lot fire outside of Allegiant Stadium after The Weeknd concert could be ominous for how the Las Vegas Raiders’ upcoming NFL season could go.

While a scary parking lot fire outside of Allegiant Stadium following The Weeknd concert Saturday night had everyone concerned, it feels a tad ominous for how the Las Vegas Raiders‘ season might unravel.

The Silver and Black were able to qualify for the AFC playoffs a year ago with Rich Bisaccia serving as the interim head coach after Jon Gruden resigned in disgrace. Raiders owner Mark Davis opted to hire a pair of longtime New England Patriots in Josh McDaniels to run the team and Dave Ziegler to run the front office. Chaos never veers too far away from the Raiders organization anyway…

Here is a video of the fire emanating from the truck in the parking lot at around 11:00 p.m. PT.

Allegiant Stadium fire feels way too ominous for Las Vegas Raiders season

The Silver and Black improved to 3-0 in the preseason by beating the Miami Dolphins on the road at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday. They have one more preseason game before the regular season starts. Fate would have it, the preseason finale is on Friday evening versus New England. While the stadium should be in great shape for the exhibition, weird things do happen in Patriots games…

Even though this fire was frightening to say the least, this is only the second fire involving an AFC West team’s stadium this offseason. Empower Field at Mile High caught on fire months ago. Unlike the incident in the Allegiant Stadium parking lot, the Denver fire actually took place inside the stadium. Fires aside, these two rival teams have made big splashes in the offseason as well.

In addition to McDaniels and Ziegler leaving the Evil Empire for the Silver and Black, the Raiders traded for Derek Carr’s college teammate Davante Adams in a massive deal with the Green Bay Packers. They also signed former Patriot and Arizona Cardinals star edge rusher Chandler Jones to bolster their pass rush. He will play alongside emerging superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby.

Although the fire was quickly extinguished, the bus was completely destroyed. The Weeknd may have put on an awesome show, but we have seen Raiders seasons spontaneously combust before they even really get off the ground. McDaniels should be better as an NFL head coach the second time around, but his previous run with the Broncos was nothing short of an unmitigated disaster.

Foreshadowing or not, the Raiders enter the year with great expectations and on-field variance.
