Aaron Rodgers on future with Green Bay Packers: The End is Near

In an interview with NFL Network’s Albert Breer, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers implied that his career might end sooner than he thought. 

After boasting back-to-back MVPs, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers enters the 2022 NFL season with uncertainty regarding his future.

NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported Monday that when he spoke with Rodgers, the Packers franchise quarterback hinted at the possibility of his career coming to a close sooner than many thought.

Given how the Packers’ offseason has gone thus far, it would not be as surprising to see Rodgers walk away. The lack of offseason activity coupled with the loss of Davante Adams via trade to the Las Vegas Raiders has left a gaping hole in the wide receivers’ core.

In April, Green Bay’s two first-round picks were spent on defense in the form of Devonte Wyatt and Quay Walker. Green Bay selected Christian Watson in the second round out of North Dakota State, but he is a rookie. The Packers would select UCLA offensive tackle/guard Sean Rhyan in the third round.

With Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon still patrolling the backfield, and Robert Tonyan at tight end, the cupboard isn’t necessarily bare for Rodgers, but not as much as he would want to have.

Aaron Rodgers knows his NFL future is murky

If this is the end for Aaron Rodgers, it’s hard to overlook his impact on the Green Bay Packers organization, both good and bad. The positives are the amount of NFC Championship berths under his stewardship and a victory in Super Bowl XLV, the first title for Green Bay since Super Bowl XXXI, when Desmond Howard, Reggie White, and Brett Favre ran the show.

However, there was the incident when Rodgers lied about being vaccinated. Then, there was the reported rift with management, along with the decision by the Green Bay front office to draft Jordan Love. It has not been the smoothest of rides, but winning will often alleviate the turmoil.

It sounds like Rodgers will soon hang up his cleats. Until then, we will sit back and appreciate the contributions he gives to the National Football League and be ready to hand him his Gold Jacket whenever he is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
