Wrap up notes from USA’s final two exhibition games vs. Greece (108-86 win) and Germany (99-91 win).

  • It’s safe to say that Anthony Edwards has become Team USA’s new 1st option over Jalen Brunson. Some would say they had Edwards as USA’s #1 option the whole time, but it looked like Brunson to me early on after his first few solid games and him being the point guard.
  • Jaren Jackson Jr. proved why he was the 2023 NBA Defensive Player of the Year with 6 blocked shots vs. Germany, making winning plays through his hustle.
  • You can just see how long of careers Tyrese Haliburton & Austin Reaves are going to have based on their productive effort off the bench with USA/the good energy they bring as teammates.
  • Bobby Portis & Walker Kessler’s minutes off the bench were a positive sign during the exhibition session, both have high motors and are fundamentally sound.
  • Paolo Banchero showing that he can play center when asked was really impressive to me. He’s in amazing shape right now.
  • Team USA definitely has a legit shot at winning Gold at the FIBA World Cup, but as I said before, there are many talented teams capable of beating them like Germany almost did thanks to Franz Wagner, Dennis Schroder, Daniel Theis, Moe Wagner, and more (blew 16 point lead).
