Jahlil Okafor nears deal with Casademont Zaragoza, set for European debut
Casademont Zaragoza is reportedly finalizing an agreement to sign center Jahlil Okafor, according to a tweet by Olga Lorente. The move marks Okafor’s first venture into European basketball after an eventful journey in the NBA.
Following a trade that sent him to the Brooklyn Nets in 2021, Okafor was subsequently waived just five days later. He later signed with the Atlanta Hawks in September 2021 but was waived before the start of the regular season. Okafor then had a stint with the Zhejiang Lions in China’s CBA and had his G League rights acquired by the Mexico City Capitanes in 2022.
Now, the 27-year-old former third overall pick is set to embark on a new chapter with Casademont Zaragoza in the Spanish ACB league. Zaragoza aims to bolster their roster with Okafor’s presence, hoping to improve upon their 16th-place finish from last season.
