Harden’s clutch OT trey pull 76ers to tie series vs Celtics
The Philadelphia 76ers managed to escape over the Boston Celtics in an intense overtime finish to take Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, 116-115.
Philadelphia relied on James Harden’s strong revival performance and clutch play, draining a corner three-pointer with 19 seconds remaining to even the series at 2-2. He finished with 42 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the victory, becoming the first 76er player since Allen Iverson to have multiple 40-point games in a postseason game.
Meanwhile, Joel Embiid had 34 points and 13 rebounds, with Tyrese Maxey having 14 points and eight boards.
Despite the combined two markers from Embiid, Maxey and Tobias Harris in the fourth, the Sixers miraculously managed to snatch the Sunday dub with Harden churning 10 points. They had a 92-83 lead entering the final frame and were forced to the brink of the extension just to be able to hang on.
Jayson Tatum had 24 points and 18 boards on a losing effort. Jaylen Brown registered 23 points and five assists, while Marcus Smart sank 27 points and seven assists.
The series shifts back to Massachusetts with Game 5 scheduled on Tuesday.
