Sacramento Kings Officially Announce Mike Brown as Next Head Coach
The Sacramento Kings officially announced the hiring of Mike Brown as their next head coach earlier today, with Kings General Manager Monte McNair had the following to say about the new hire:
“Mike has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead winning teams throughout his long and successful coaching career. He has worked with some of the best players in the NBA and is one of the league’s premier defensive minds. I am excited to bring his extensive experience to Sacramento.”
Brown is currently the lead assistant with Golden State, whom he was with when they won back-to-back NBA Championships in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Current Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was lost for words when speaking about Brown leaving Dub Nation to join Sacramento.
“I don’t even know where to begin. What Mike has done for me, this organization in his six years here — He’s an amazing coach, friend. Sacramento made a great choice.”
Brown was named Coach of the Year back in 2008-09 after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a franchise-record 66 wins alongside a then 24-year-old LeBron James. Brown holds a 347-216 career record as a head coach (61.6 winning percentage), having led six of his seven squads to the postseason when being at the helm.
Brown will remain with the Warriors through the 2022 playoffs before heading to Sactown.
