Bucks transfers Khris Middleton, Wes Matthews to G League affiliate Herd
The Milwaukee Bucks have appointed both Khris Middleton and Wesley Matthews to their G League affiliate Wisconsin Herd, per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. Middleton previously went to the Herd last month with rookie MarJon Beauchamp.
This move marks another step for Middleton to finally make his season debut after being ruled out by the club to start the season. The star swingman underwent wrist surgery last summer.
“He’s been making progress, probably steady and slow,” coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters about Middleton. “Today was another good day. We’ll just continue to see how he feels tomorrow. Hopefully, he can be doing a little bit more each day.”
Middleton notably became absent for the Bucks in the middle of their first round 2021 playoff series vs. Chicago Bulls due to sprained MCL which severely blew the franchise’s chances to defend their title.
Last year, Middleton averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 boards, 5.4 assists in 66 games played. With the Bucks holding the second best record in the East with 12-4, his return can only bolster their state as one of the league’s championship heavyweights.
