Manchester United go into this afternoon’s home game with West Ham still riding the crest of the wave generated by Thursday’s superb performance against Athletic Bilbao.
United arguably reserved their two best displays of the season for the Basque side, backing up their 3-0 win at San Mames with a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford in midweek to cruise into the Europa League final and a meeting with Tottenham.
Their league form remains problematic, however. They have not won in six and sit an underwhelming 15th in the table.
West Ham are one of the few sides on an even worse run. Graham Potter’s men have not won any of their last eight games and reside in 17th position, just one place outside the relegation zone albeit with no chance of going down.
