Israeli cabinet moves to remove attorney general

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s cabinet on Sunday approved a motion of no confidence on the attorney general Gali Baharav-Miara in its latest move against officials deemed hostile to the government. The move came after the attorney general warned that Netanyahu’s attempt to sack Israel’s internal security chief Ronen Bar was illegal. “The country is in a very profound crisis”, FRANCE 24’s Noga Tarnopolsky said, adding that the Israeli government whilst threatening to disobey the Supreme Court also appears to be willing to back down on certain issues.
