Barcelona game postponed after death of first-team doctor

Barcelona’s La Liga clash with Osasuna has been postponed following the death of first-team doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia.
The match was due to start at 8pm (UK time) at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, however the club revealed the news of Garcia’s passing shortly before kick-off and confirmed the game would be not be going ahead.
According to initial reports in Spain, Minarro Garcia, 40, died at the team hotel in the lead up to the match. He had been working at the club since 2017.

In a statement, the club said: “Barcelona are deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro García this evening,” the club said in a statement.
“For this reason, the match against Osasuna has been postponed and will be rearranged for a later date.
“The Barcelona board of directors and all staff extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
The Catalan club’s opponents, Osasuna , also posted a message on social media: “Osasuna wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Carles Miñarro Garcia and would like to send a warm hug to all the staff of FC Barcelona, as well as to its fans, at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”
