Jalin Hyatt non-committal on New York Giants future: ‘We’ll see’

2024 was supposed to be a breakout season for New York Giants second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. Instead, it turned out to be anything but.

Hyatt, a speedster out of Tennessee who the Giants traded up in the third round of last year’s draft to select, was very active in camp and was the main candidate for the upgraded vertical passing game. There was optimism that the Giants would use Hyatt to spread the field and open up the offense.

That didn’t happen.

In fact, Hyatt became more of a forgotten man. Although he played in 16 of the Giants’ 17 games this season and on 33 percent of the snap share, he had just eight receptions for 62 yards.

On Monday, as the Giants’ players bagged up their belongings after closing out the regular season with a 20-13 loss to the Eagles down in Philadelphia on Sunday, Hyatt was asked about his status with the Giants past, present, and future.

When asked if he expects more opportunities next year, he simply replied, “We’ll see’.

That was his response to how he felt about his future with the Giants as well.

Hyatt was asked if he was going to meet with general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll about his role going forward and perhaps a change of scenery.

“We have some talks we have to have but, we’ll see,” he said.

Hyatt’s role was changed by four things this season: The arrival of first-round pick Malik Nabers, the emergence of Wan’Dale Robinson as a reliable chain mover, the recommitment to veteran Darius Slayton, and the release of quarterback Daniel Jones.

There simply just weren’t enough targets to go around plus the offense was a complete mess from week to week. Maybe a trade would help both him and the Giants.
