New Yorkers say Gov. Hochul’s wrong, wrong, wrong — on the border, congestion pricing and everyhting else

New York voters say Gov. Hochul is wrong, wrong, wrong — on everything that matters in the Empire State.
That’s the finding of a devastating new Siena poll.
Start with their massive slapdown of her congestion-pricing reprise.
Fully 51% of New York residents opposed her plan to charge people to enter Manhattan below 60th Street, with only 29% in favor.
The down-votes are fully justified, of course.
Congestion pricing will end up hurting the less-affluent the most without doing much to allay traffic (instead just shifting it around); it’s just another piece of green political theater and a money-grab for the never-satisfied MTA.
While city voters oppose it by almost 2-to-1, suburban foes of the policy outnumber supporters by more than 2-to-1.
Hochul’s total failure on the migrant crisis also brought her a huge, humiliating slap.
More than half of New Yorkers (54%) back President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to deport illegal immigrants en masse.
Only 35% agree with Hochul’s crack-brained ideas about somehow “countering” Trump on the issue.
Heck, even in ultra-blue NYC, a solid 51% of voters favor deportations.
Small wonder, then, that the data delivers even worse news for the idea of a Hochul gubernatorial repeat.
Some 57% of all voters, including 32% of Democrats, want to see Hochul step aside in favor of another candidate before the 2026 election.
Hochul’s had a negative approval rating since January; her approval has never been above 50%.
That’s partially because she’s spineless, bending and swaying in every political wind.
As with congestion pricing: She was for it before she was against. Before she was for it again.
But it’s mostly because voters have seen the terrible effects of the policies she champions — not just on migrants and congestion pricing, but crime and schools and taxes and you name it.
They’ve had enough.
Hochul needs to figure out what it is everyday New Yorkers (not progressive loudmouths or powerful unions) really want, and then grow a spine and fight like hell to see they get it.
Short of that, she better brace for a well-earned Bidenesque whomping in 2026.
