One Life to Live star Thom Christopher has passed away, Deadline reports. He was 84.

According to the outlet, Anthony Crivello, who played the late actor’s son on the beloved ABC soap opera, shared the news on Facebook.

“He was always a gentleman, always supportive, and he and his wife Judith who proceeded him in death were always gracious to me and welcoming,” Crivello wrote of Christopher.

The news was also posted on Facebook by photographer and Christopher’s friend, Steven Bergman, who confirmed that he died on Thursday night (Dec. 5) after being “sick for quite a while,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

“A great actor who entertained and gave joy to so many people for so many years,” Bergman penned. “A loving and dedicated husband to Judith who he would soon be joining in eternity. And lastly, that he was a great friend to everyone who had the privilege of being his friend. He comprehended every word I said and replied back ‘thank you.’”

Per THR, the Ithaca College alumni was born in Queens, New York, and studied theatre at the Neighborhood Playhouse. His acting career also included Broadway productions.

Christopher played two different roles during his tenure on One Life to Live: Carlo Hesser and Mortimer Bern. Per Forbes, the actor earned a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 1992.

According to Deadline, his soap opera career kicked off with work on The Edge of Night. His TV credits also include Kojak, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, T.J. Hooker, Simon & Simon, Murder, She Wrote, Loving, Guiding Light and Law & Order.

Per IMDb, Christopher earned his most recent acting credit in the 2017 drama ADDicted.
