‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Ally Lewber says reboot ‘feels like freedom’

Ally Lewber is breathing a sigh of fresh air.
The 28-year-old reality star addressed the “Vanderpump Rules” reboot, telling The Post exclusively that “it just feels right” at an event for the Mediterranean-inspired pet food brand REÁL MESA at 1 Hotel West Hollywood on Tuesday.
“I’m just so grateful for everything, but it feels kind of freedom, you know, like, okay, we don’t have to worry about what we’re going to share next season. Yeah, it’s kind of free,” Lewber shared.
On Nov. 26, it was announced that “Vanderpump Rules” will be returning for Season 12 — but with a new cast.
Production will begin next year with Lisa Vanderpump and a new group of “close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors.”
Lewber is dating her “Vanderpump Rules” co-star DJ James Kennedy — who many consider the “No. 1 guy in the group” post-Scandoval. She joined the cast of the beloved Bravo show in Season 10.
Lewber said the cast learned about the reboot in the eleventh hour but had suspected their time might be up.
“We found out the night before everyone else was,” she spilled. “I think we all kind of suspected it or something was happening just because, like, we weren’t hearing any updates or getting news.”
“So it wasn’t necessarily, like, a big shock, but still shocking, especially for James,” Lewber explained, adding that they “had a day or two days to process it,” and now, “It feels right. It makes sense.”
Despite being on the hit series for only 2 seasons, the Los Angeles-based astrology guru shared with The Post that she believes Kennedy will someday return to reality TV because “that’s where he shines.”
“He was meant for reality TV, and he’s just so good at it,” she said. “And, of course, deejaying is his true passion. So that’s what he’s gonna continue to do and focus on. But do I think James will be back on television one day? I really do.”
When asked which of her former castmates took the reboot news the hardest, Lewber said she wasn’t sure but was happy to guess Tom Sandoval.
“I’ve talked to almost everyone,” she shared, “and their heads are high like no one’s super upset. But I mean, I have to go Sandoval. Especially with the closing of the bar [Schwartz and Sandy’s].”
Lewber broke her silence on the reboot last week, sharing an “appreciation post” to her ex-castmates.
“An appreciation post for these amazing humans I’m lucky to call friends. 🤍 And thank you ALL for the love & support! It’s been such a fun ride! Can’t wait to see what’s next for @itsjameskennedy & me,” she captioned a series of photos from her time on the show.
Several of her co-stars — including Kennedy, Sandoval, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, and Tom Schwartz — paid tribute to their time on the show with touching posts.
Bravo Daddy Andy Cohen spoke about the bombshell reboot shakeup, saying it was the “absolute right thing to do.”
While several of the “Vanderpump Rules” stars — like Schwartz, Shay and Kent — will be making cameos on Season 3 of Bravo’s newest hit “The Valley,” Lewber told The Post that she and Kennedy won’t be popping up on the drama reality series.
For now, she’s focused on their relationship and future.
“I’m excited to just kind of let our relationship almost breathe and not have the pressure [of cameras],” she said. “I think it’ll be nice to just feel like we have some privacy. [We] can actually focus on us.”
Lewber is looking forward to what’s ahead with Kennedy and her career.
The spiritual astrologer revealed she’ll continue to give readings and teased that more music might be on the way. Over the summer, Lewber released “Girl’s Girl,” a fun female anthem that became an instant hit with the Bravo community.
“I don’t know if it’s just Christmas, like the cozy vibes, but I’m back in my little cozy writing music,” she shared. “I’m sure I’ll make some more music in the future. I just love it.”
“Vanderpump Rules” made its TV debut in 2013 as a spinoff of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
The show followed Vanderpump’s then-staff at her West Hollywood restaurant SUR, which featured most of the cast above, plus Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor and Stassi Schroeder, who were fired in 2020 following allegations of racism.
All hell broke loose in March 2023 when Sandoval was caught cheating on his then-girlfriend Madix with her best friend, Raquel Leviss.
The affair was dubbed “Scandoval” and became last year’s biggest pop culture story.
Cameras quickly picked back up to film the aftermath of the affair drama; however, Madix refused to film with Sandoval when they returned for Season 11, which turned out to be their last.
After an explosive reunion, Bravo decided “Vanderpump Rules” would take an extended pause. Months later, the network announced that Season 12 will feature a new cast in the biggest Bravo shakeup since “The Real Housewives of New York” reboot.
