‘The View’ Drags Melania Trump Over Interview Where She Praises Her Husband’s “Kindness”: “Needs A Laugh Track”

The View got some accidental entertainment this morning as the Hot Topics table shared a laugh over Melania Trump‘s recent interview. Despite the former First Lady not uttering a single joke while speaking to Fox & Friends, the studio was filled with guffaws over her words about her marriage to Donald Trump.

Whoopi Goldberg introduced the topic by noting that while Melania had been “noticeably absent” during Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, she gave some insight into “personal and political” manners while speaking with FOX.

In the interview, a portion of which The View shared with their audience, Melania seemed to downplay her husband’s online rhetoric, saying, “American people need to decide what they really want. Maybe some, you know, strong tweets, but everything else great for this country.”

When asked what she loves most about Donald, Melania replied, “His being. His humor, his personality, his kindness. He’s very special. His positivity, his energy, it’s unbelievable. Yeah, so we have a beautiful relationship.

As for what she and Donald “like to do for fun,” Melania told FOX, “To have dinner. Sometimes quiet dinner or dinner with friends, and listen to the music. All kind of different musics.”

Melania also confirmed that Donald “likes to be the DJ” at dinner parties, saying, “It’s very fun night when he does that.”

When the clip concluded, the studio audience was audibly laughing, while the camera panned to Goldberg’s confused face. As she closed her lips even tighter, indicating she wasn’t going to be the first to speak on Melania’s interview, Joy Behar didn’t shy away.

She immediately quipped, “That thing needs a laugh track! It needs a laugh track.”

Goldberg then admitted, “I had to say I was surprised when she mentioned his sense of humor,” as Sunny Hostin compared Donald and Melania’s marriage to the relationship between Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff.

“He is behind her 100%,” Hostin said of the Second Gentleman. “He’s very loving.”

She then noted that while she’s “reluctant to comment on other people’s marriages,” she thinks Donald and Melania “have a lot of commonality” after being married for nearly two decades. “I think these two are simpatico,” she told the panel.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
