Davante Adams rips ‘bulls–t’ rumors that claim he’s unhappy on Raiders

Davante Adams wants to make sure everyone knows he’s happy about being a Raider.

Even if others say differently.

A little over two weeks ago, former NFL wideout DeSean Jackson joined “The Herd” on FS1 and said he had talked to Adams, saying, “but at the end of the day [Davante] isn’t happy” with being with the Raiders.

Well, Adams spoke to reporters on Wednesday and told a much different tune, not only saying he’s happy with the Raiders but that he never even spoke to Jackson about the matter.

“At the end of the day, the facts are facts and that is not a fact,” he said. “I’ve probably spoke to DeSean Jackson maybe three or four times in my life and I never had a conversation with him — ever. And I put that on my kids. I’ve never spoken to him about anything.

“The only really person I talk to about my feelings general is my wife and she ain’t out there leaking anything or dropping stuff to the media. Once again, whatever you see, if ain’t from the horse’s mouth, it’s probably bulls–t.”

There’s been speculation going back to last season that Adams, the three-time All-Pro, could be dealt after an uneasy time with the Raiders before Josh McDaniels was fired as head coach.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas admitted after last year’s trade deadline that he inquired about Adams, to no avail.

After more rumors swirled this summer, Adams hopped on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast to say he was feeling “really good” about the Raiders after complimenting his old Green Bay quarterback and current Jets signal-caller, Aaron Rodgers.

“Well, I’ll answer it like this: If I’m gonna be reunited with anybody, it would be Aaron — or relocated and be anywhere, it’d be with Aaron,” Adams said. “But that’s not really my — there was a lot of that stuff going on last year in the media and them asking, ‘What are you gonna do about this? Are you thinking about going here?’ And they talk about whatever without me even being involved in it.

“And it ended up getting all the way to the point where it got in the locker room, and people was thinking that I was the driving force, and I’m like, y’all just don’t understand, man. When you — and I hate to say it like this because it makes me sound like I’m trying to put myself on a pedestal — but when you’re a certain level of player, it don’t have to come from you, and oftentimes it’s not coming from you.”

Adams, with four 1,000-plus yard receiving years in a row, will start his quest for a fifth one when the Raiders play the Chargers in Week 1 on Sunday.

He will be working with Gardner Minshew, who won the starting quarterback job.
