New York Giants could ‘potentially’ use Adoree’ Jackson as a returner

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll addressed the media on Monday morning in preparation for Sunday’s season opener versus the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants will hold a walkthrough on Monday with practice sessions taking place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week.

The third-year coach said he did not have any updates on injuries at the moment and that he would discuss them when the first injury report is published on Wednesday.

Daboll spoke about the signing of free agent cornerback Adoree’ Jackson this past weekend. Jackson played the last three seasons for the Giants. He said the team had been in contact with Jackson’s reps beforehand and had toyed with the idea of bringing him back for a while.

Daboll also said that he spoke with the two players vying for the barrier corner spot across from Deonte Banks — Nick McCloud and Cor’Dale Flott — and had a simple message for them.

“We will play the guys who we think will give us the best chance,” he said.

Daboll also intimated that Jackson could be used as a punt returner with Gunner Olszewski still dealing with a groin injury but first needs to see “where he’s at” physically before ramping him up.

Jackson, of course, suffered a knee injury during the 2022 season after being inserted as a punt returner and missed several games.

Daboll added that he has great respect for Vikings quarterback San Darnold, who he spent time with over the years, calling him a “challenge.”

The coach also spoke about the offensive line, citing the addition of multiple veterans has helped but they are still a “work in progress.”
