Mariah Carey Shares Mom Patricia and Sister Alison Died on Same Day
Mariah Carey is in mourning.
The “We Belong Together” singer shared that her mother Patricia Hickey and her sister Alison Carey have died, with both of them passing on the same day.
“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” Mariah told E! News in an Aug. 26 statement. “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”
The 55-year-old continued, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”
“I appreciate everyone’s love and support,” Mariah added, “and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
Mariah didn’t share additional information, including Patricia and Alison’s causes of death.
Patricia was a Juilliard-trained opera singer and vocal coach. She went on to marry Alfred Roy Carey, welcoming three children—Morgan, Alison and Mariah—before divorcing when Mariah was 3 years old.
