Suspect charged in murder of popular NYC sneaker reseller ‘Upscale Cracc’

A Poughkeepsie man for gunning down well-known sneaker reseller “Upscale Cracc,” who shot multiple times during a robbery in June, cops said.

Alleged gun man Jayquan Straker, 35, was taken into custody Saturday morning in the murder of Upscale, whose real name is Javier Osorio-Mejia, 31, according to police.

Osorio-Mejia, a Bayonne, New Jersey, resident, was shot three times in his right leg in front of a clothing store at 41 Greene St. in Soho at 5:15 a.m. on June 25, authorities said.

A clothing store called Stone Island is located at the address of the shooting, though it was not clear what Osorio-Mejia was doing there at that time.

Authorities found Osorio-Mejia unconscious at the scene with a wound to his right thigh, police said.

EMS rushed Osorio-Mejia to Bellevue Hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Osorio-Mejia was remembered as a beloved father who brought laughter and smiles with him wherever he went, according to his obituary.

“Javier was full of light and a humble heart always trying to help others. A well-known shoe reseller who made it to the top through hard work and sleepless nights,” the obituary read.

He was also “an amazing father to his little girl who he lived for,” and loved to spend time with his family, according to his obituary.

Straker was charged with murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.
