Man killed by subway train outside of Mets game

A man is dead after he was struck by a train outside Citi Field on Saturday evening in an apparent suicide just as a Mets game was about to end, according to police.

A train operator witnessed the man walk on on a catwalk and lay on the tracks in front of a southbound 7 train before it could stop at the Mets-Willets Point train station around 6 p.m., cops said.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was declared dead at the scene, police said.

The incident happened just before the Mets wrapped up a shutout home win against the Marlins.

The incident caused 7 trains in both directions to be delayed for hours as fans were pouring out of the ballpark, according to the MTA.

By 8:30 p.m., regular 7 train service had resumed with some residual delays, an MTA spokesperson told The Post.

The Long Island Rail Road, which also stops at the Mets-Willets Point station, was not impacted.
