‘Zootopia 2’ Casts Ke Huy Quan As New Snake Character

Zootopia will soon have a new arrival.

Ke Huy Quan has joined the cast of Zootopia 2 as a snake named Gary, says Ginnifer Goodwin who announced the news during Friday night’s Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23.

Goodwin plays protagonist Judy Hopps (a bunny) in the film franchise.

“Now, reptiles have a shady past,” said Goodwin, who teased that Quan’s character could send the crew “on a whole new mission.”

Goodwin added that Gary is: “creepy, slithery, [and] highly venomous.”

Zootopia 2 will debut in theaters on November 26, 2025. It is directed and written by Jared Bush and produced by Yvett Merino.

In addition to Goodwin and Quan, Jason Bateman will be reprising his role as con-artist fox Nick Wilde.

Back in 2016 when the original film was released, Goodwin and Bateman told CinemaBlend what they would like to see in a sequel.

Goodwin, who said she’d like to see Judy and Nick swap roles, said “I would like to see Nick have to be the one to convince Judy that the world is worth fighting for.”

Bateman also shared his idea for a sequel. “The two of us [Nick and Judy]. kicking ass out there. Cleaning up the streets,” he said. “We’re a couple of new cops out there. So, bad guys, be warned.”

Zootopia has grossed more than $1 billion since its release in addition to securing an Oscar for Best Animated Film.
