Ron Holland: I thought Pistons were picking Matas Buzelis until he looked over and said they’re taking me
Detroit Pistons rookie Ron Holland actually believed that his former G League Ignite teammate Matas Buzelis would be taken 5th overall during the 2024 NBA Draft.

“Funny story. So as the pick’s going by, we really noticing just how all the cameras was moving to the players before or right after the pick is called and I was looking at Matas. I told Matas, I’m like, ‘Matas, Detroit right here.’ It was just a funny thing, and he looked back and said, ‘They going for you.’”
