New York Giants’ Dexter Lawrence destroys Lions’ Frank Ragnow

How powerful is New York Giants nose tackle Dexter Lawrence? Powerful enough to throw the Detroit Lions two-time All-Pro center Frank Ragnow around like a rag doll.

At Monday’s joint practice, that’s exactly what happened.

“They’re one of the better offensive lines in the league,” said Giants defensive end Brian Burns after practice. “With (Penei) Sewell, (Taylor) Decker, and Frank (Ragnow). So, they’ve got some guys. And it’s a group that worked together for a while now. So, to have success against them in this practice means a lot. It’s a good confidence builder for us.”

The 6-foot-4, 342-pound Lawrence is hellbent on making an indelible presence in the middle. Here he dominates the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Ragnow but truth be told, with Aaron Donald now retired, he is being considered the dean of interior defenders in the NFL.

That has not gone to the former first-rounder’s head. He’s staying hungry.

Earlier in camp, Burns was asked if Lawrence ever “amazed” him.

“Just look at him,” he said. “A guy that big shouldn’t be moving that fast. When he takes grown men and tosses them to the side, yeah, it’s amazing.”

Just ask Frank Ragnow.
