Joe Scarborough compares Kamala Harris to ‘Rocky Balboa’ – forgetting he lost in first movie

MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough on Monday touted Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances to win the White House, likening her to Rocky Balboa – forgetting that Sylvester Stallone’s fictional character lost to Apollo Creed in the first movie.

Scarborough — whose left-leaning show was yanked off the air last Monday in the wake of the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump — dug into his misguided analogy to the 1976 Oscar-winning film, “Rocky,” a day after aging President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race.

Trump “was used to going against Biden, right? What have they done? They switched it up. It’ll be a southpaw now. Rocky is a southpaw,” Scarborough ranted, referring to Balboa’s left-handed fighting style.

“For children scared this morning, go back and see ‘Rocky,’” Scarborough said.

But what Kids and adults will see is a valiant but bloodied Stallone going the distance against Carl Weathers’ Creed before losing by a split decision.

That didn’t stop Scarborough from carrying the water for the likely Democratic contender.

“I will tell you, the Republicans are in there freaking out,” Scarborough said. “I had heard from inside the Trump campaign for some time right now that the one thing Donald Trump feared was not having Joe Biden.”

He argued that controversial former President Donald Trump and Republican leaders are “melting down” over the ticket switch up.

“But, again, the fact they’re freaking out so much has to excite a Democratic Party that was really at its lowest ebb of any party I’ve seen since, let’s say Watergate,” Scarborough said.

Scarborough and his co-host wife Mika Brzezinski have previously made their support for Biden clear, and now have called for the Democratic party to issue widespread support for Harris.

Some leaders, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, issued near-immediate statements endorsing Harris soon after Biden bowed out.

“We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and we will do whatever we can to support her,” the Clintons said in a joint statement on Sunday.

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama has withheld his endorsement, instead issuing a statement that he has confidence the Democratic party will pick an “outstanding nominee.”

It seems Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both favor an “open” process to replace Biden and find a new potential Dem nominee.

“We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead,” Obama said.
