Harry Maguire admits Man United players are under ‘pressure’ despite FA Cup semi-final win – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United booked a place in the FA Cup final for a second straight season by beating Coventry City 4-2 on penalties at Wembley over the weekend.
Ideally, this called for a celebration among the fan base and plaudits for Erik ten Hag and his Man United players. Instead, headlines were dominated by everything but praise.
The Red Devils’ conceding three goals to throw away their comfortable lead against the eighth-place Championship side attracted plenty of criticism from fans and pundits alike. Antony’s celebration after the penalty shootout win only intensified the scrutiny.
In his press conference, Erik ten Hag made sure to take an aim at media for their “embarrassing” coverage concerning his side’s result and performance against Coventry.
However, Harry Maguire, who is all too familiar with getting an unfair amount of stick from media, is far from surprised by all the “noise”.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the England international stated: “I’ve been at this club a long enough time to know that the noise around the place is always here, whether it’s with the manager or the players.”
“There are players under huge amounts of pressure and when you lose football matches or go on bad runs, the manager becomes under pressure as well.”
Maguire, 31, further suggested that his teammates intend to maintain their focus and stick together during the business end in order to “achieve things this season.”
Interestingly, the Englishman, who moved to Old Trafford from Leicester City under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was one of the few players who came away from the Wembley encounter with any sort of credit.
Maguire was absolutely rock solid in the first half. Further, the former club captain was lauded for his reaction after United’s win.
Instead of celebrating the result, he approached Coventry players to laud them for their efforts on Sunday afternoon.
With a number of centre-backs out with different injuries, Ten Hag will massively rely on Maguire’s physicality as well as composure to see out the season on a positive note.
