Summer return to Ajax on the cards for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are expecting a busy summer with INEOS taking charge of their first transfer window at Old Trafford.

As well as making additions to the first team squad, INEOS will be looking to offload some fringe players to make room for new arrivals.

One player whose future surely lies away from Manchester is Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek.

As reported by Fichajes, a surprise return to Ajax may be on the cards for the 26-year-old whose career has nosedived since signing for United.

Van de Beek is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt but the German side are unlikely to make the deal permanent given his poor form.

Frankfurt have the option to buy the midfielder for €11 million but he is expected to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

A return to his homeland would give Van de Beek a chance to reignite his career and get back to his best form.

Ajax have had struggles of their own this season and a reunion would give the club and player an opportunity to find their feet once more.

However, a summer move is still a long way off with no negotiations ongoing between the clubs and no admission from Van de Beek that he is willing to move.

It’s been an awful period for the Dutchman who has suffered badly with injuries and lack of form since signing for United in the summer 2020 on a five-year deal.

Despite scoring on his debut, Van de Beek has added just one more goal to his tally at the club, over a total of 62 games.

It was hoped that his former Ajax boss could save the midfielder’s career at United but even Ten Hag failed to get a tune out of his compatriot.

The Dutchman’s future is also uncertain and with Ajax reportedly interested in rehiring their old manager, an incredible reunion for both in Amsterdam isn’t off the cards.

United will hope to recoup some of the £35 million they paid to Ajax for Van de Beek four years ago but will be lucky to get anywhere near half for a player who has struggled to deal with the pressure of playing at the Theatre of Dreams.
