5 dream trades that would help the Packers too
If the Green Bay Packers want to move on and trade Aaron Rodgers, they need to help themselves as much as possible as they do so.
Few things are as uncertain as what’s next for Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. There was talk about trading the back-to-back reigning NFL MVP last offseason but he ultimately ended up back with the team that drafted him back in 2005. That is not a certainty for the 2023 season, however.
Given the immense struggles of both Rodgers and the Packers, it might behoove the franchise to work out a trade for the quarterback that would allow them to hit the reset button by shedding his salary, setting the stage to hand the keys to former first-round pick Jordan Love, and likely accruing draft capital and/or players who can help build the roster moving forward.
That last part is critical, though. One thing that Green Bay needs to be sure they do if they were to trade Aaron Rodgers is that they are helping the Packers now and in the future with what they get in return. So what would that look like? Here are five dream trades for the yellow and gold that would help both parties get what they want.

Aaron Rodgers rumors: Dream trade No. 5 to help the Packers – New York Jets
Despite Robert Saleh doing his best job to try and make people optimistic about former No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson, the general sentiment around the Jets seems to be that they missed on their quarterback for the future and now need to pivot to try and fix the issue. For as good of a job as Mike White has done in relief, I’m not sure he’s the answer either.
What this season has shown, though, is that the Jets are closer to competing for playoff spots and postseason runs than many thought with how they’ve acquired talent in recent years. That could make an Aaron Rodgers trade extremely enticing for New York if they believe he can come in and do well alongside the likes of Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Breece Hall and so on.
Packers Get
2023 First-Round Pick
2024 First-Round Pick
2023 Third-Round Pick
2024 Second-Round Pick
Jets Get
QB Aaron Rodgers
Given their position, the Jets might be in the best spot of any teams that will be mentioned here to fork over a draft-pick-heavy package that doesn’t really give the Packers a player in return, specifically a stopgap quarterback (though they could with White or Wilson, if Green Bay would be interested).
Even still, Green Bay getting two first-rounders and two additional Top 100 picks over the next two drafts would be huge for building out the roster in a post-Rodgers world, which is exactly what they need if they are going to move forward into a new era.
