With Tommy DeVito just clearing the concussion protocol on Friday, the Giants will turn back to Drew Lock at quarterback this week down in Atlanta.
Head coach Brian Daboll said that DeVito will be the primary backup this week.
Last week, DeVito started in place of Lock (heel, elbow) and was knocked out right before halftime and relieved by veteran Tim Boyle. The Giants are choosing not to elevate Boyle to the starting role, so Lock, who has improved health-wise, will draw the start.
Lock started the two previous games in place of Tommy DeVito, who was sidelined with a forearm injury. DeVito started last Sunday’s game against Baltimore and was ruled out at halftime with a concussion. He was replaced by Boyle.
The Giants have had four different quarterbacks (Daniel Jones, DeVito, Lock, and Boyle) throw passes this season. That last happened back in 1992 when Phil Simms, Jeff Hostetler, Dave Brown, and Kent Graham did it.
